An Educated Consumer is the Best Client!

Q: Do random quotes showing up in my email or online really tell me all I need to know?

A: No, they do not. Online quotes do not know your medical history. For instance, if you smoke or take medications, that will change the price or the coverage. Don't be fooled by those prices.

Q: Does using an agent cost me anything?

A: No, an agent should not be charging you for their services.

Q: Do I pay a higher price for the insurance if I use an agent?

A: No! The insurance price is the same whether you use an agent or not.

Q: How does an agent get paid?

A: The insurance company pays the agent. So the only way an agent makes money is by doing their job, taking care of you, the customer.

Q: Can one agent beat another agents price for the same plan?

A: No! An agent cannot save you money over another agent for the same plan from the same company, unless they change something. Insurance prices are set and regulated by the insurance company, do not be misled!!

Q: Do I have to use an agent to purchase health insurance?

A: While you can do it on your own, it is better to use a knowledgeable agent in order to fully understand the benefits, and again, using an agent costs you nothing.

Q: Is it okay to purchase insurance over the phone?

A: Absolutely! As long as you use a reputable agent. It's easy, costs nothing extra and speeds up the process getting you insured faster.

Q: What is a pre existing condition?

A: A pre existing condition is any medical condition that you currently have being monitored or treated or that you may be taking medications for. It could be as minor as high blood pressure, allergies and acid reflux or as major as cancer, stroke, pregnancy and diabetes.

Q: Does a pre existing condition matter when I look for health insurance?

A: Yes. The more we know about your condition the better.  Certain companies will insure you while others will not, this is why we represent a wide array of insurance carriers to find what best suits you.

Q: What is an Individual Major Medical (an IMM) policy?

A: An individual major medical policy is medical insurance that you would purchase on your own, not through an employer or provided by the state.

Q: What if I'm currently unemployed?

A: You can still get insurance in most cases.

Q: What is a discount health plan?

A: A discount health plan was created as an alternative to health insurance. As in, if you get declined for or can't afford major medical insurance; you can qualify for these types of discount plans. The only problem is that unlicensed agents try to lead consumers to believe that IT IS major medical insurance! While there are legitimate discount plans on the market, this should never be your first choice. Pleas call us for more details.

Q: What is a rider?

A: A rider is a change added to a policy.

A: If you meet certain criteria you can, there is also international insurance as well that may be an option.

Q: Should I shop by lowest price when purchasing insurance?

A: While that may seem like a good idea, you can wind up with a limited amount of benefits which in turn can leave you vulnerable to extremely large out of pocket expenses, even bankruptcy. Don't focus on saving ten dollars today and possibly run the risk of spending hundreds even thousands more in the future. Speak to one of our agents who will guide you in the right direction.

Q: Do I have to meet my deductible first before I can go to a doctor?

A: Not necessarily. There are plenty of plans designed so that you don't have to meet the deductible first, you can use the doctor co pay right away or enjoy the network re-pricing.

Q: Which insurance companies are A rated, are BBB members and stable over the long term and does that matter?

A: Not as many as you think and the answers may surprise you (call for more information) and yes, if you want to be properly protected by the best insurance company, it matters!!

Q: What is a risk category?

A: A risk category is a class that you fit into, based on height, weight, tobacco use and or medications; this is how the insurance company determines what price to charge you.

Q: Which risk category do I fall into?

A: There are primarily three (this is a summary; other factors may come into play):

1.

Preferred:

No medications or conditions, healthy, height/weight and non smoker

2.

Standard:

Includes height/weight BMI (body mass index), medication use, while being a non smoker

3.

Tobacco:

You currently use tobacco products or quit less than 12 months ago

Q: Does the risk category affect my monthly price?

A: Yes, it can affect your price dramatically in some cases but we figure that out for you so you have no surprises.

Q: Do I have to give my billing information?

A: Yes, the one catch is that you have to pay for the insurance. But in most cases, you’re billed when it’s approved so you pay only when you get it.

Q: Why do I have to give my social security number?

A: Your social security number is your unique ID: This number allows insurance companies to make sure that everything is accurately taken care of for you.

Q: What if I just quit smoking or just stopped taking medications and an agent advises me to leave it off the application?

A: That agent is being unethical and potentially putting you at great risk!!! It's in your best interest to be 100% up front. If you aren't, and the insurance company finds out, your policy can be voided or cancelled, your premium be refunded and any claims that you may have had will be unpaid and your responsibility.

Q: What different companies and plan options are available in my state?

A: There may be more available to you than you're aware of and they may have very competitive pricing and different benefits. This is why it's beneficial to speak to an agent.

Q: How do I save the most on my health insurance?

A: By getting exactly what you need.  In order to determine that, you must speak to a licensed, knowledgeable agent who can guide you through your options and allow you to make an informed decision.

Q: After I pay my deductible, am I fully covered?

A: That depends on the plan you have. Most people think they only pay their deductible, and unless your plan is structured that way that’s incorrect. There might be an additional amount you’re responsible for. If you’re unsure of what you currently have, call us for a free comparison.
